Taylor Swift Breaks Adult Pop Airplay Record

Taylor Swift has just made chart history again. Her song 'I Knew It, I Knew You' has given her more Adult Pop Airplay number ones than any other artist ever, according to Billboard. That chart tracks which songs get played most on grown-up pop radio stations, so smashing it proves Taylor isn't just a streaming superstar, she rules the airwaves too. It's the latest big moment in what's already been a huge year for her, coming soon after her induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. For fans, it's proof that even after all these years at the top, Taylor is still setting the pace for everyone else in pop. Keep an eye out for what she does next, because with Taylor, there's always something else brewing.

Today's Lesson: The Front Walkover

real Poppie words

Warm up first

  1. Warm up your wrists, shoulders, back and legs really well, on a soft mat. Never do this cold.
  2. This is a big one. Always have a grown-up right beside you to spot you, every single time.

What you need first

  1. Your bridge, handstand and splits all need to be strong before you start. A front walkover uses all three.
  2. Practise bridge kick-overs first. From a bridge, kick one leg up and over to stand up. That's half of a walkover already.

The front walkover

  1. Start in a lunge, arms up by your ears, strong leg in front.
  2. Reach down into a handstand. As your legs go over the top, split them so one leg leads the way.
  3. Let your leading leg reach down to the mat, like the top of a bridge.
  4. Push through your shoulders and stand up tall, arms back by your ears.

Build it safely

  1. Go slowly, with your grown-up holding your back the whole way, until you can control every part.
  2. Point your toes and keep your arms strong. Speed comes last: control and a grown-up's spot come first.

Coach's tip: get your bridge, handstand and splits really strong first, and always have a grown-up spotting you. On something soft! ๐Ÿ’œ

Recipe 2: Spaghetti Carbonara

real Poppie words

Before you start

  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Get everything out: spaghetti, bacon, 2 eggs, a big handful of grated pecorino romano (or a mix of 1/3 parmigiano and 2/3 pecorino), and the pepper grinder.

The pasta

  1. Big pot of water on to boil with a good pinch of salt.
  2. When it's properly bubbling, spaghetti in. Set a timer for what the packet says, usually about 10 minutes.

The bacon

  1. While the pasta cooks, snip the bacon into little pieces with scissors (way easier than a knife).
  2. Into a big pan on medium heat until it's golden and a little bit crispy. If you like mushrooms, slice a few in with the bacon. They make it even better.

The sauce

  1. Crack the 2 eggs into a bowl, add the cheese and loads of black pepper, and mix it up with a fork. That's the sauce: no cream in a real carbonara, ever.
  2. Just before the pasta is done, scoop out half a mug of the cooking water and keep it. You'll want it in a minute.

Put it together

  1. Drain the spaghetti and tip it into the bacon pan. Now take the pan OFF the heat.
  2. Pour in the egg mix and keep everything moving: the heat of the pasta cooks the sauce until it goes silky.
  3. Too thick? Add a splash of that pasta water you saved.
  4. Into a big bowl, extra cheese on top, done.

Chef's tip: the pan comes OFF the heat before the eggs go in. That's the whole secret. Eggs in a hot pan turn into scrambled eggs, and scrambled eggs are for breakfast. ๐Ÿ
